Printing Dimensions

Maximum Art Dimensions on garmets: 12.5"W x 15"T

The top of a design typically starts approximately 2.5" below the collar of the shirt. Let us know if you want the design to be placed differently than what is shown on the proof.

House Colors

Uncommon Threads uses Pantone colors when printing designs to ensure that the same color that is viewed on a screen will be printed on the apparel. Our house colors are:

File Preparation

Printing can only be as good as the artwork, so it’s important that files are high quality and set up correctly when we receive them:

  • Files must be 300 dpi or in a vector file format, with text converted to outlines.

  • Designs should be sized to the size you would like it to be printed.

  • Halftones are printed at 45 lpi - 65 lpi.

  • All artwork must be set up either in CMYK, Simulated 4 Color Process, or by using a maximum of 5 spot colors

We are happy to answer any questions you have about setting up your files for a successful print job, but please read more here about your responsibility to supply adequately prepared files.

Digital Proofs & Approving your Artwork

Before printing an order, we’ll provide you with a digital proof that includes a mockup of the final product, the colors used in the design(s), and the dimensions of the design.

Please look these proofs over carefully.

We try our best to point out potential concerns in a design, but ultimately the responsibility to proofread your artwork rests with you. We recommend double and triple checking... then having another set of eyes double and triple check it.

Once you approve your artwork, we are not liable for any errors (e.g. spelling, incorrect dates, reversed images, etc.) that are discovered in the approved design later, or any costs associated with reprinting the order.

Production Time

In most cases, there is a minimum of 10 to 14 business day from the day you approve your artwork (and we have your 50% deposit) to the day it’s ready to be picked up or shipped.

Rush orders may sometimes be approved, for a fee, at our discretion.
